On Dec. 27, the UN stated that Israeli forces bombed civilian infrastructure at Sana’a airport and Al Hodeida port.
As he entered a meeting of the Security Council on Monday, Israeli ambassador Danny Danon said his country will not accept calls for restraint from the United Nations.

“We do not expect much from the United Nations but we will not accept calls for restraint. Do not call for de-escalation when we respond. Do not equate those who launch killer missiles with those who try to protect their people,” he said.
“Let me remind you what has happened to Hamas, to Hezbollah, to Bashar al-Assad and to those who thought to destroy us. This is not a threat: I promise you that you will share the same unfortunate fate,” Danon said, referring to Yemen’s Houthis.
Israel had previously called for an emergency session of the UNSC to protest Houthi attacks on its territory last week, to which Israel responded with massive bombings of the port of Al Hodaida and Sanaa International Airport in Yemen.
On Dec. 27, the United Nations contradicted Israel, saying that Israeli forces bombed civilian infrastructure at Sana’a airport and the port of Al Hodeida, killing six people. In a press conference, Julien Harneis, the UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen, explained that Sana’a Airport is a civilian facility used for only one daily operation: the flight of an A320 aircraft of the Yemenia airline to Amman in Jordan.
He emphasized that the Sana’s airport, which is used by the UN agencies for flights with humanitarian material, is the only point of departure for many Yemenis with serious medical complications to be transported to be treated in Jordan.
Harneis also explained that 80 percent of food and 90 percent of medical supplies that enter Yemen do so through the port of Al Hodeida, which “is a civilian infrastructure and is absolutely vital.” The recent Israeli attacks, however, disabled that port by 50 percent.
